AC Repair Cost in Dubai: What You Should Actually Pay in 2026
Tasaddaq Mughal Technical Services is a Dubai renovation and fit-out company first, and AC, plumbing and electrical work is the secondary call-out side of the same business. If your AC has just died, the short answer is that most common repairs land between AED 250 and AED 650, compressor work starts around AED 1,200 and can pass AED 3,000, and every price we give is custom because it depends on the type of work and the design and scope of the apartment, villa or office.

What actually drives the AC repair Dubai price
Four things move the number: the fault, the unit type, the refrigerant, and how easy the unit is to reach. Labour rates in Dubai are fairly similar between companies, so parts and access are where quotes separate.
The fault
A capacitor is a small part with a short fitting time. A compressor is a heavy part that also needs the system opened, vacuumed and recharged. The more a technician has to open and replace, the more the job costs.
Split, window or central
Split units are the cheapest to repair because both halves are easy to reach. Window units are rarely worth repairing once the compressor fails. Central and ducted systems cost more per visit, because the fault can sit in a fan coil, a duct, a drain tray or the outdoor condensing unit, and each of those is a separate trip. On a home already under renovation it is also the moment to ask whether the unit should stay where it is, which is why we handle AC, plumbing and electrical repairs under one call alongside fit-out work.
Refrigerant and access
R22 is being phased out and costs more per kilo, while R410A and R32 are cheaper to top up. Access matters just as much. A split unit on a low balcony is a short job. A condensing unit on a roof with awkward ladder access, or on a high floor with tight balcony space, can double the labour time. That is labour, not parts, and it is the most common reason two neighbours get different quotes for the same fault.
Typical AC repair price bands in Dubai
These are the ranges we quote most often in 2026. They are a guide, not a menu, because every price is custom and depends on the type of work and the design and scope of the apartment, villa or office.
| Job | Typical range in AED | What affects it |
|---|---|---|
| Diagnostic or visit charge | 150 to 300 | Credited against the repair in most cases |
| Refrigerant top-up | 250 to 700 | Gas type; leak repair is a separate job |
| Capacitor replacement | 200 to 400 | Fast job, single low-cost part |
| PCB or control board | 450 to 1,200 | Board price varies a lot by brand |
| Fan motor | 400 to 800 | Indoor or outdoor motor |
| Compressor replacement | 1,200 to 3,000 | Includes vacuum and gas recharge |
| Drain or water leak fix | 200 to 450 | Often a blockage rather than a part |
| Full AC service per unit | 150 to 350 | Coil clean, filter wash, drain flush |
| Annual maintenance contract | 1,200 to 2,500 | Villa with 3 to 5 units, two visits a year |
A worked example. A one bedroom apartment in Dubai has a 1.5 tonne split unit that keeps tripping the breaker. The visit is AED 200, the test points to a failed capacitor, the part is AED 90, and the total is AED 290. The same unit with a seized compressor is a different conversation: about AED 1,800 for part and labour plus AED 400 for the recharge, so roughly AED 2,200, which is close to the price of a new unit installed.
Bathroom renovation handover, the kind of fit-out scope our team completes before it is ever called out for maintenance.
Why July and August call-outs cost more
Through July and August the ambient temperature holds above 45C for weeks and every unit in the building runs at full load. Capacitors and compressors fail in clusters, bookings stack up, and same day or evening slots carry a premium of roughly AED 100 to AED 300 over a weekday morning appointment. Popular split sizes also run short in peak weeks, which adds a day or two to compressor jobs.
There is a DEWA angle too. A unit that is low on gas runs longer to reach the set temperature, and that shows up as an extra AED 100 to AED 400 a month on a small flat. A AED 300 leak repair can pay for itself inside one summer. More UAE home-service cost guides apply the same reasoning to plumbing, painting and fit-out pricing.
Repair or replace at what AED threshold
If the repair quote reaches 40 to 50 percent of the price of a new unit installed, replace rather than repair. A 1.5 tonne split installed runs AED 1,400 to AED 2,800 in Dubai, so a AED 1,500 compressor job on a nine year old unit is money you will not get back. Replace when the unit is 8 to 10 years old, when a second major repair lands inside 12 months, when it runs on R22, or when the outdoor unit is rusted and vibrating. Repair when the unit is under 6 years old, one part has failed, and it otherwise cools well. It is the same logic as a fit-out: if a wall is coming down anyway, you do not repaint it first.
How to avoid being overcharged on AC repair in Dubai
- Get the fault diagnosed before you agree to parts. A technician who names the compressor without testing the capacitor and the PCB is guessing with your money.
- Ask for one written total covering parts, labour, gas and VAT. Get a fixed price before we start rather than accepting a verbal range.
- Confirm the parts warranty in writing. A capacitor should carry 3 to 6 months, a new PCB about 6 months, and a compressor 6 to 12 months.
- Ask what happens if a second fault appears. The right answer is that it gets quoted again before any work, not added to the bill.
- Check that the team is licensed for the trade, then pay the balance only after the unit runs cold for 20 minutes with the panels back on. Keep the invoice, because it is your only record of the gas type used.
One team across renovation, AC, plumbing and electrical
Our main work is renovation and fit-out: media walls, bed walls, flooring, paint jobs, glass partitions, offices delivered from an empty shell to key handover, and villa and apartment renovation in Dubai. AC, plumbing and electrical are secondary call-outs, and they stay efficient because the same team already knows the building. When a technician who is also working on the fit-out opens a ceiling to reach a duct, he is not seeing it for the first time, so a job that would take a separate AC company two visits often finishes in one here.
Frequently asked questions
What is the AC service visit charge in Dubai?
An AC service visit charge in Dubai usually runs AED 150 to AED 300 and covers travel, diagnosis and a written quote. In most cases the visit charge is credited against the repair if you go ahead the same day. The final figure is custom because it depends on the type of work and the design and scope of the apartment, villa or office, and it is confirmed before any work starts.
How long does an AC repair take in Dubai?
A capacitor or fan motor is a 45 minute to 2 hour job. A PCB swap takes 1 to 2 hours when the board is in stock. A compressor replacement runs 3 to 5 hours plus vacuum and recharge, and a refrigerant leak that has to be traced inside a wall or duct can spill into a second visit.
Do you cover Abu Dhabi or Sharjah?
Our renovation and fit-out work is based in Dubai, and call-out coverage is confirmed case by case before a booking is taken. Send the address and a short description of the fault on WhatsApp at +971 50 340 9745 and you will get a straight answer with a price. Work outside our normal radius is quoted as a project rather than a standard visit.
Is a gas refill included in the AC repair price?
No. A refrigerant top-up is a separate line item, usually AED 250 to AED 700 depending on the gas type and how much the system takes. A top-up on its own is not a repair, and if the system is losing gas the leak has to be found and sealed or you will pay for the same gas again within months.
Do you price the job before starting?
Yes. Every job gets a fixed written price before work begins, covering parts, labour, gas and VAT. If we open the unit and find something different, we stop and requote instead of adding to the bill at the end.
